As I sit here on a lazy saturday afternoon looking out of my window at nothing but wind and rain, I would not blame my Scottish friends, currently enjoying their annual trip to Cape Town, for thinking they were back in Edinburgh! It is hard to believe that less than 24 hours ago, We were all enjoying the most wonderful lunch on a gloriously sunny afternoon in the Wellington winelands at one of the properties I represent - namely 'Grand Dédale' www.granddedale.com.
Whilst we sat on the huge whitewashed verandah enjoying tapas and cheese platters, not to mention fresh ciabatta rolls with a selection of delicious fillings, along with a delicate homemade quiche ... all of which was perfectly complimented by a medley of Doolhof's award winning wines, looking out at one of the best views there is anywhere...I came to the conclusion, that I really do have one of the easiest jobs in the world!

Some people by their own admission are just not made for sales & marketing. But there is also a huge percentage of people out there, that possess all the right skills, but still fail dismally. Quite simply, the secret of sales success in ANY industry is to be passionate about what you are selling and really believe in your product, whether that be real estate, cleaning products, or hamburgers. I have to confess though, as I sipped at my Doolhof Sauvignon blanc, prepared myself another cheese & biscuit and stared up at the breathtaking scenery once more, to feeling slightly guilty. Not because I had taken a well deserved afternoon off or even the fact that I had perhaps over indulged a little too much!! For some reason, I could not help but think of the cleaning products salesman and know for sure, that he had to work a damn sight harder than me to sell his product. Luckily this feeling soon passed .... as I contined my afternoon working on what I now like to call 'Product knowledge development' !!
